When I first started Going For Grace I never had the thought that it could bring me to meet all of the incredible women that it has. Talk about a perk of the job! It has been so fun to turn online interactions into meaningful friendships.

One of my biggest goals this year has been to go out of my way to meet and collaborate with other like minded women in this field. I adore blogging here on Going For Grace, but I have to admit that the creation aspect is increasingly more fun when you're not doing it by yourself! So when I had the chance to meet up and create a dreamy summer garden party with Jessica of Frapps and Frills and Emily of Life With Emily, I jumped at the chance. Keep reading below for three tips to throwing your own quintessential Southern garden party!

Find Your Theme

From our first conversations we knew that we wanted to put together a "summer supper" that truly embodied the Southern women that we are and that would feature some of the best that a summer down South has to offer. From front porch sits to sundresses, you simply cannot beat a Southern summer. So Southern garden party it was!

Choose Your Venue

Once we decided on our garden party theme, we started looking at venues. We looked at several, but the second that I saw photos of the Mcalister-Leftwich House I felt like I had found my dream southern home. Which is the exact feeling that we wanted this garden party to have! I mean, did you see the front door?! From the perfect porches to the delicate shade of blue, it was the loveliest of backdrops!

Decide on the Details

When you have your theme and your venue the details become the fun part! When it came to the tabletop we wanted to mix what you would think of as traditional southern details, such as blue and white china, with more modern elements like the stunning floral arrangement. Much like any entertaining piece, some of my favorite details ended up being the sweet treats! I made a delicate summery lemon tartlet to place at each place setting, but the hand painted strawberry cake from Artsy Cakes, quite literally, took the cake! If there is anything that I have learned in entertaining, it is that involving the food can actually make a tablescape shine!
