How To Make Campfire Apples

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees and place your 8 inch dish or skillet with ½ tablespoon of butter inside to melt while it preheats.
  2. Slice about 2 apples (I used Fuji) in ¼ inch slices and place in large bowl.
  3. Add 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon, 2 tablespoon brown sugar, and a little squeeze of lemon juice to the apples. Tossing them until evenly coated.
  4. Once oven is preheated, carefully remove dish from oven (remember it's hot!) and move around to evenly coat the bottom in the melted butter.
  5. Arrange the apples in the baking dish or skillet, sprinkle with a bit more cinnamon and brown sugar, and add ¼ tablespoon of butter on top.
  6. Bake for 6-7 minutes or until the apples have softened to your liking.
  7. Add a few apple slices to your s'mores and thank me later!!

*If serving at a bonfire, you can coat apples and place them in your dish to heat up over the fire or let dish cool and then reheat it over the fire when ready to serve.

Variations

  • Use other fruits: Blackberries or peaches would be fantastic!
  • Use different types of chocolate: Dark chocolate, almond, sea salt
  • Add a drizzle: I'm thinking chocolate sauce or caramel sauce!
