Thankful. Definitely the word of the season! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I am reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. This is why Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year. No presents, only presence! The fact that we take this time to simply enjoy the company of those that we love - that is magical!
Today, I am so excited to share some Thanksgiving inspiration with you. Whether you are hosting the entire family or throwing a Friendsgiving dinner, I hope that these tips helps you savor every moment!
The Centerpiece
When it comes to centerpieces, be sure not to use anything that would block the view and hinder conversation from one side of the table to the other. While a large floral arrangement is beautiful, I'm afraid it makes for awkward dinner conversations. Instead, opt for garland!
For this tablescape, I wanted to create a lush seasonal garland that incorporated plenty of Fall elements. P.S. A DIY post is coming next week!
The Place Settings
When deciding on a place setting, it is important to first know your menu. How many courses will you have? Do you need soup bowls? Spoons? You get the point! The fun begins once you decide which pieces you need. For this tablescape, I chose to play off of the centerpiece in each place setting by using golds, greens, and a sprig of eucalyptus tucked under each napkin.
The Dresses
My motto - Give me a holiday and I'll give you fifty dresses that go with it! My favorite part about Maggy London dresses is the detail that is incorporated into every piece - like the stunning mock wrap on the Bria Midi or the beautiful twist detail on the Ariel Draped! It is those details that make each of these dresses the perfect choice for a special day, such as Thanksgiving!
The Recipe: Spiced Cranberry Sauce
Is there anything more appropriate for Thanksgiving than cranberry sauce?! If you need an easy dish to whip up for a holiday get together, this is it. This spiced cranberry sauce is a cinch to make and sure to be the most beautiful side dish on the table!
Ingredients:
12 oz bag fresh cranberries
½ cup orange marmalade
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon chopped walnuts
orange peel for garnish
Instructions:
Place orange marmalade and sugar in a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
Once sugar is melted down, add cranberries and cinnamon. Bring back to a boil and then turn heat to low for 10 more minutes.
Remove from heat. Mash and mix with spoon until the cranberry sauce is the consistency that you like.
Pour into serving dish and sprinkle the top with the chopped walnuts and orange peel.
Let sauce cool to room temperature and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or overnight.
